Karaburun is the mountainous peninsula that separates the bay of Vlore from the open sea: no roads, no villages, just cliffs, caves and a string of white-pebble beaches the mainland cannot reach. It is the Karaburun-Sazan National Marine Park — and it is visited the way it should be: by boat.
How the tour works
Boarding on the Vlore promenade and navigation along the inner coast of the peninsula. The classic tour calls at two or three of Karaburun's wild beaches: coves of dazzling pebbles where the water is so transparent the boats look suspended. At every stop: a long swim, snorkelling over posidonia and rock, time to lie in the sun. Many tours include the passage or stop at the Haxhi Ali Cave — the great sea cave at the peninsula's northern tip — and some add Sazan Island, effectively becoming the full bay combo. Which beach? It depends on the day
Skippers choose the coves based on wind and crowds: it is part of their craft and one of the reasons a local operator beats any app. On lucky days they add the small coastal caves you can swim into.
